MT Ed will look beyond traditional casting "types", because gods and heroes can look like any of us.
For students in 8-12 grade. Performance dates and tech week schedule are TBD based on schedule provided to us by Fringe. Auditions will be held in July 2021 with rehearsals being held 2 nights per week July-mid September. Tuition $350. Deposit due upon registration to hold your student's spot. We anticipate that this program will fill quickly and we will cap the program at 30 students to ensure a quality experience.

Welcome to the Renaissance and the outrageous, crowd-pleasing musical farce, Something Rotten.  Created by Grammy Award-winning songwriter Wayne Kirkpatrick, and successful screenwriters Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell, Something Rotten was lauded by audience members and critics alike, receiving several Best Musical nominations and hailed by Time Out New York as "the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years".

Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as "The Bard." When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz.

Something Rotten features large song and dance numbers, and a wacky cast of over-the-top characters, each given his or her own special moment in the show to shine.  Throughout its Broadway run, the musical received a show-stopping standing ovation from audiences... in the beginning of the first act!  It’s become clear that “nothing’s as amazing as a musical,” so don’t miss your chance to be a part of this history-twisting tale.

Auditions will be held March 27, 2021. Rehearsals will be Tuesdays and Fridays 6-8:30pm and Saturday afternoons 1:30-4pm. Tech week May 17 -20, 5-9pm, with performances  May 21 & 22.

Not all actors will be called for all rehearsals.

All participants must be in 7th-12th grade for the 2020-21 school year.

MT Ed is happy to report that we ran a very successful summer camp and fall theatre program last year. Families were thrilled with our outdoor venue!
Winters in WNY means that all of our programs need to take place indoors. To ensure the safety of all of our families, we are limiting our program size, masks will be required for all participants, staff and audience members for our in person programs. Current Covid restrictions limit gatherings to 50 people, whether indoors or outdoors, therefore, our ability to have live audiences is severely limited.
We want to reassure everyone that MT Ed makes the safety of our students and their families our #1 priority. We will continue to meet and exceed all health protocol as we navigate this difficult time. We look forward to when we can welcome audiences to our performances again.

In December of 2020, MT Ed relocated to our own dedicated space at 4785 Lake Ave, the historic Penny Arcade at Charlotte Beach. We are thrilled to rejuvenate this landmark into a performance venue for generations of students to come. Due to our generous community members and their contributions, we are able to continue running all of MT Ed programs and events, as well as add more to our offerings each year. MT Ed has a wish list of items that we could use to help grow our program. Your donation to MT Ed will help us expand our programs and continue to bring you amazing shows and performances.

We must all do theatre, to find out who we are, and to discover who we could become. ~Augusto Boal
